Your essay should be three to five typewritten pages in length, double-spaced with 12 point font. Some to a significant amount of outside research is required but you must utilize the assigned readings and lectures in developing your essay. Your research should be well and consistently cited. It should include references to scholarly articles and books, outside your texts. Scholarly articles and books are written by scholars generally affiliated with some college or university. All things being equal the more recent the better, but not always. In any event, avoid non-scholarly and often politically biased online stuff, as well as WIKIPEDIA, OTHER ENCYCLOPEDIA, OR ONLINE DICTIONARIES.
