Habit reversal and differential reinforcement
Part 1: Based upon a functional assessment, you have chosen to use habit reversal procedures to decrease the thumb sucking behavior of a 7-year-old child. Explain how you would implement all four components of habit reversal with this child, including a specific competing response. Provide a description of why habit reversal procedures work to reduce habit behaviors (include the applicable behavioral principles).
Part 2: Explain how you would implement one of the differential reinforcement procedures (e,g., DRA, DRI, DRO, or DRL) with this case. Include an explanation of how the behavioral principles of reinforcement and extinction are involved in differential reinforcement procedures.
