Personnel Psychology: Needs Analysis and Future – 3 Paragraphs

Discussion: Needs Analysis and the Future

As a potential personnel consultant to large organizations, you may be hired to develop job-training programs on a project contract. That is, you are hired for a period of time to customize a training program for an organization and to advise the organization on how to tailor it for the future. In 1978, Moore and Dutton found that although a needs analysis determined the depth and breadth of training programs for organizations, many times the needs analysis was not accurate. As you develop a needs analysis, you want to ensure that you are meeting the organization’s objectives for the present and the future. Consider how organizations are changing in their nature of work in terms of technology and workforce demographics. As a potential personnel consultant, what additional information would you need in order to have a successful training program?

For this Discussion, review relevant resources and consider the future directions of needs analysis.
