During this time, one president experienced an intersection of some of its most significant events: President John F. Kennedy, also known as JFK.
For this project, you will create a presentation on JFK’s handling of the Office of the Presidency. This presentation should cover JFK’s major personal accomplishments, his use of deterrence in the Cold War, and his involvement with the civil rights movement. A well-constructed presentation should fully detail each of these issues – for instance, it should include an explanation of the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union which created the environment in which deterrence was seen as necessary. You may also compare how JFK approached different issues with how other presidents of the time did so.
This presentation should be at least ten minutes in length when presented at a normal, comfortable speaking pace. It should be at least 12 slides not including the Title page and Works Cited page. Each content slide should contain bullet point-style information. Your presentation should include images that are appropriate to the topic and appropriate for school. Each slide (except Title and Works Cited pages) should contain at least one appropriate image. Please do not use images instead of your own words, however, as I will still be checking that the presentation meets the other length requirements.
You will write out the speech portion of your presentation that you would give when presenting it, which should be at least 1000 words in length. You may choose to record yourself giving your presentation either in audio or video if your parent or guardian approves, but you must include the written speech portion of your presentation in your submission.
You must use at least 4 credible sources other than your textbook and provide a Works Cited page with your sources. Failure to include a Works Cited page will result in a rejected assignment.
You may choose which presentation software or program works best for you. If you have access to Microsoft PowerPoint, this is a good option, but some other free ones are:
(FREE – Google Email account and Google Drive access needed)
- Google Slides (FREE – Google Email account and Google Drive access needed)
- Prezi (FREE – No other accounts needed)
Remember to write in your own words and in complete sentences.
