For this assignment, you are to assume the role of an advice-blogger relative to the nonprofit profession. You will write a blog post in response to the prompt below. You should review several of the blogs within the “Blogs of Note” folder. You will see that it is common practice to reference other blogs, articles, websites, etc. within a blog post. I expect that your blog post here will contain at least two references to outside sources via hyperlinks in the text. DO NOT UPLOAD OR ATTACH A WORD DOCUMENT TO BLACKBOARD! PLEASE COPY AND PASTE YOUR ANSWERS DIRECTLY INTO BLACKBOARD! After you post your own blog response, you are encouraged to comment on classmates’ blog entries as if you were a reader, not a classmate.

This blog post should address effective and innovative strategies that nonprofit organizations can implement to ensure successful interactions and engagement between volunteers and staff. You will gain insights from the assigned readings in this module, but may also choose to do some research on your own to see what is happening out there in the nonprofit sector. Your blog post should meet the following guidelines:

  • Discuss at least three strategies used to engage staff and volunteers in positive interaction that limits conflict
  • Provide benefits and challenges to each strategy
  • Link to at least two outside sources
  • Include some example of this in your personal experience in volunteering or volunteer management
  • Share an original idea you have to help better engage staff and volunteers together in a way that limits staff-volunteer conflict
