Reading the article, i find that countries like Southeastern Europe uses this idea of cultural identities to have an important element in the transition process when it comes to monument policies. The author highlights that reconstructing memories through populist monument projects the research that comes with it will try to prove the misuse of memories and historical representations as hate speech and reconstruct this manipulation of memories used to create new national ethnic memories using monuments as a tool.
