Question i chose:
Marlowe’s “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love,” Raleigh’s “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd, ” and Marvell’s “To His Coy Mistress” all deal in one way or another with the theme of carpe diem, or “seize the day.” Using one or more of these poems, examine the similarities and differences in their messages. What is the attitude toward the love in each? What is the attitude toward life? which- if any- of these poems do you think is best suited as philosophy of living in today’s world?
