Wilson had stated in the address that he had a few conflicts with Germany’s behavior. If Wilson had an abundance of issues with how the Germany’s government was running, there should be some sort of additional checks and balances. Wilson mentions in his letter that Germany’s submarine practices were unlawful. Which they very much were unlawful, by threatening to attack any ships in European waters. Due to their control over the water, he states he is not willing to submit. Was it possible that just to prove the point of the United States power, the president felt it necessary to intervene? I am curious to know, was it completely necessary for the United States to intervene or was there enough force with other countries united against Germany? Though he did mention wanting to maintain peace by inciting a war against Germany due to it unjust practices in the recent months. By Germany sinking 3 of our ships prior to us entering the war, it would have been justified to start a war with no remorse. Especially since their Government was willing to try to initiate the war solely for the intention of the, ad Mexico invading and conquering the United States. It was still honorable to mention that the United States had no issue with the people of Germany and their fight was for Democracy and not against the citizens but communistic rulers
