Using your book and outside sources compare and contrast society’s response the current “opioid crisis” and the “crack epidemic” of the 1980s and 90s.
Through the lens of race and racism, focus on the way in which the government, law enforcement and the media have framed and treated both crises. In order to do this effectively you must:
1. Use and define theories and concepts from the book.
2. Summarize the current “opioid crisis” and the “crack epidemic” of the 1980s and 90s. Through the lens of race and racism, make sure you focus on the way in which the government, law enforcement and the media have framed and treated both crises (using at least three sources).
3. Relate the theoretical perspectives to the crises.
4. Make sure you include both an introduction and a concluding paragraph that ties all the paper together.
You should research the issue thoroughly using multiple sources (minimum of three) and use your book to define the theoretical approaches.
